Deadline is reporting that Hammerstone Studios, the film studio behind this year's horror movie "Barbarian", has partnered with Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions to make a live-action film set in the "Death Stranding" universe, with a whole new story and brand-new characters.

The film will mark a massive career milestone for iconic game creator Hideo Kojima, who has had a clear love for the movie industry shown by the many influences in his games, going as far as casting Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, and Guillermo del Toro in "Death Stranding".

Quote from Hideo Kojima:

“I couldn’t be more excited about this new partnership with Hammerstone Studios. This is a pivotal moment for the franchise and I’m really looking forward to collaborating with them in bringing DEATH STRANDING to the big screen.”

"DS2" a sequel to the first game was just announced at The Game Awards last week and is set to release exclusively for the PlayStation 5 sometime in the future.
