Major Xbox/Activision Blizzard Acquisition Updates
Today, Microsoft met with EU regulators to make their case for acquiring Activision Blizzard, with a couple of third parties in attendance to make their cases for or against.
Before the meeting, Microsoft confirmed they had signed a 10-year contract with Nintendo to bring Xbox games and Activision games, such as the Call of Duty franchise, to Nintendo consoles.
While we don't know what happened behind closed doors, Microsoft held a press conference afterward to discuss some new information. Microsoft opened up with making it clear that splitting up Activision and Blizzard will not be an option. Microsoft also announced that they had signed a 10-year agreement deal with Nvidia to deliver Xbox games to Geforce Now. Nvidia, who was previously against the merger, now supports it.
Finally, Microsoft shared statistics showing that Sony controls around 80% of the European market share when up against Xbox. Finally, Microsoft announced that they have offered Sony a 10-year contract to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation, but Sony has refused to sign it.
