IO Interactive Announced Development of Online Fantasy RPG

The creators behind the legendary "Hitman" franchise have announced they are hiring for development on a brand new online fantasy RPG. In a press release, IOI confirmed that this will be a new IP built from the ground up and be a game that gets expanded upon for years to come. IO Interactive will join a long list of developers trying to launch an online multiplayer live service game, and with their recent success on the "Hitman: World of Assassination" trilogy, they may have the experience needed for the job.

Luminous Productions Shuts Down

Square Enix has confirmed that Luminous Productions will shut down and be merged into the main studio. This news comes weeks after the release of the studios first, and seemingly final, game "Forspoken". The team will finish one final DLC before the closure though. The studio was created shortly after the release of Final Fantasy XV's final DLC, with the purpose of making games on the Luminous Engine. With Final Fantsy VII Remake being built on the Unreal Engine, and Final Fantasy XVI not being built on the Luminous Engine, it seems the time of Luminous has come to an end.
